 TORONTO, April 23, 2014 – Diana Burke has formally been approved as a candidate for the Liberal nomination in the federal riding of Toronto Centre. Additionally, Burke announced the endorsement of former Toronto Centre Liberal Nomination Candidate, Todd Ross.

 “I’m very pleased to receive Todd’s support and to have the opportunity to work alongside him in our community of Toronto Centre”, said Burke.

A star candidate, Ms. Burke came to Canada from Jamaica at the age of 21 and had a successful career with Royal Bank Financial Group, culminating in a role as the bank’s Chief Information Security Officer worldwide. She was a co-founder of RBC’s Cyberlab in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University and the first Canadian to serve on Microsoft’s Global Information Security Advisory Board.

 In addition to her stellar business career, Burke has always been a committed community volunteer, helping immigrants and seniors with issues of access to opportunity and social justice.

 Ms. Burke has been an engaged Liberal for many years, serving on the Toronto Centre Liberal Riding Association executive and actively helping many Liberals with their election campaigns. She made her first personal foray into electoral politics last year in the Toronto Centre by-election, receiving the enthusiastic support of more than 600 new members of the party.

 Ms. Burke hopes to serve Canada with her unique knowledge of the complex digital world and international security issues, as well as her passion social justice, in the years to come.
